Description
Department mission
The mission of the Administrative Services Department is to provide careful and responsible management of financial resources and human capital to ensure a sustainable high quality of life in Pointe-Claire. The Department relies on a qualified and professional staff dedicated to the quality of life enjoyed by Pointe-Claire citizens.
Responsibilities and goals associated with the position
Under the supervision of the Coordinator – Compensation and Benefits, the incumbent performs various technical and administrative tasks related to compensation, benefits and pension plans for City staff. She or he oversees day-to-day operations and various stages of records processing. In addition, the incumbent acts as a resource person for staff and various internal/external stakeholders in the files related to her or his activities. Finally, the incumbent ensures that deadlines are met and provides monitoring/administrative follow-up of the files that come under her or his responsibility.
The jobholder’s main responsibilities are as follows:
Performing the final verification of weekly payroll data input. Managing the various benefits databases. Carrying out year-end processes, setting up new fiscal years, applying new group insurance rates, implementing new salary rates and preparing RL-1 and T4 slips. Filling in employment records, creating and maintaining the currency of personnel summaries. Processing departmentally approved attendance records in a decentralized payroll preparation system. Preparing payroll registers and providing various lists and reports on request. Performing all other related tasks.

Requested skills
Holds a college diploma in an appropriate area and has a suitable profile for the position, or any equivalent combination of education and experience
Successful completion of the Canadian Payroll Association course would be an asset
A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience
Knowledge of and proficiency in Kronos software and in Coba payroll software would be an asset
Knowledge of and proficiency in the Windows environment and Excel software
Skilled in interpreting collective agreements
Ability to speak and write English and French
Self-reliant, well organized, discreet, tactful and courteous
