Department mission

The mission of the Culture, Sports, Leisure and Community Development Department is to improve quality of life by promoting accessibility, participation, and integration of all citizens through the provision of excellent community, cultural, sports and recreational facilities, activities, and services.

Responsibilities and goals associated with the position

Reporting to the Library Manager, the incumbent plans, organizes, directs and controls all activities related to computer systems, acquisitions and administration of material and digital resources of the library. They are also responsible for developing the technological component of the library.

The jobholder’s main responsibilities are as follows:

  • Ensure the quality of the services and activities of their department;
  • Develop policies, standards and procedures related to the creation, processing and dissemination of information.
  • Determine, in collaboration with their immediate superior, the orientations, objectives and priorities of their sector.
  • Plan, organize, direct and control activities relating to the management of computer equipment and the operation of databases used on the library’s website.
  • Manage the deployment and implementation of the library’s computerized or automated systems (software, gateways, databases, contracts and library management tools, ILS, etc.).
  • Liaise with library service providers.
  • Manage the human resources under their responsibility (schedule, recruitment, development, training, discipline, evaluation, etc.) in a unionized environment.
  • Prepare financial reports, budget monitoring, statistics and others at the request of their immediate superior.
  • Perform all other related tasks.

Requirements

· The incumbent must have a Master of Library and Information Science (MBSI) or Master of Information Science (MSI). · A minimum of three to five years of experience is required to hold this position. · The position requires fluency in English and French. The jobholder must be able to carry on a conversation, participate in a work meeting and write short texts or internal reports in both languages.· Knowledge of documentation sciences and techniques, issues and trends.· Knowledge of information technologies related to their area of expertise.· Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite. Working hours 35 hours per week

Monday to Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Friday, 8:00 a.m. to noon.
