Department mission

The mission of the Culture, Sports, Leisure and Community Development Department is to improve quality of life by promoting accessibility, participation, and integration of all citizens through the provision of excellent community, cultural, sports and recreational facilities, activities, and services.

The Pointe-Claire Swim Club has been a leader in Canadian swimming for more than 30 years. A large number or world record holders and Olympic medallists got their start in the City of Pointe-Claire. More than 400 swimmers take part in our program.

Responsibilities and goals associated with the position

Reporting to the Head Coach, the incumbent will be responsible for managing and supervising athletes ensuring their development and continuing the tradition of excellence and enthusiasm that has characterized our Club for decades.

The jobholder’s main responsibilities are as follows:

  • Setting up training programs and planning the season;
  • Training and preparing athletes for competitions;
  • Working in collaboration with the Head Coach or Assistant Head Coach;
  • Teaching proper swimming techniques;
  • Attending monthly meetings;
  • Performing video analyses and providing technical advice;
  • Performing any other related tasks.

Requested skills

High school diploma in progress;

Level 1 NCCP (or to be completed within the first year of hiring date);

1 year experience as coach in a competitive summer swim team and/or a competitive Québec Swimming Federation team or its equivalent;

National Lifeguard Certificate (or to be obtained in the first six months of hiring date);

Interpersonal communication skills;

Ability to work in a team setting;

Organizational skills;

Bilingual (English and French).
