Our client is seeking a Senior Solution Architect (Planning & Architecture) to drive business and technology architecture across multiple business units, with a primary focus on commercial services (Hybrid, Edmonton preferred)[2026-010].

Overview:

This role sits within Planning & Architecture and is responsible for aligning business strategy with technology solutions across multiple business units. The Architect will lead business architecture planning, guide solution design on key projects, and ensure technology decisions support long-term strategic and regulatory objectives. This role is highly stakeholder-facing and requires strong business and technical alignment capabilities.

Must-Haves:

• 5+ years of experience in business architecture and/or solution architecture within IT environments
• Strong understanding of SDLC, including custom build, COTS, and SaaS implementations
• Experience contributing to architecture strategy, planning, and governance
• Demonstrated experience supporting or advising on IT project delivery and solution design
• Proven ability to bridge business and technology stakeholders and translate requirements into solutions
• Post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, Business, or related field

Nice-to-Haves:

• Experience with emerging technology evaluation and adoption (e.g., cloud, integrations, modern platforms)
• Strong facilitation and leadership skills working with cross-functional teams
• Experience conducting business capability assessments, process analysis, and information management planning
• Exposure to regulatory environments and supporting budgeting or regulatory filings
• Experience identifying technology risks, opportunities, and strategic improvements across business units

Responsibilities:

• Drive business architecture planning and direction, ensuring alignment with strategic and operational goals
• Provide solution architecture guidance across selected projects and business units
• Ensure adherence to and evolution of architecture standards and governance frameworks
• Gather and analyze business requirements, processes, and information management needs
• Research and recommend emerging technologies and industry trends aligned to business goals
• Assess technology risks and opportunities and develop improvement strategies
• Contribute to annual planning, budgeting cycles, and business system planning
• Build and maintain strong relationships with business stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes
