IT Financial Reporting Analyst (or Project Controls Analyst) with strong excel and Power BI skills to support financial planning, budgeting, and cost control for IT initiatives

5 days in office - downtown Calgary

Must have:

• 3+ years of experience as an IT Project Control Analyst or IT Financial Analyst within Oil and Gas Organizations (preferrable pipeline)
• Experience with financial analysis, financial planning, budgeting and cost controls for large-scale IT projects
• Experience with capital (CapEx) and operational (OpEx) accounting, and cost recovery principles.
• Good to Advanced - Excel and Power BI skills to create Dashboards and reporting
• Experience with ERP or financial systems such as Dynamics 365 (D365), Oracle or SAP

Nice to have:

• Familiarity with IT governance models (ie COBIT, ITIL) and PM methodologies (ie Agile and waterfall).
• Knowledge of PIMS modules and ERP platform D365 and project portfolio management tools.

Responsibilities:

• This role will support the IT department in managing capital and operational expenditures across multiple projects, ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and alignment with strategic business goals.
• Financial Reporting and Analysis
• Build, maintain, and update Power BI dashboards and Excel based reports supporting IT project and portfolio financial reporting
• Monitor and analyze financial performance, including monthly variance analysis against budget and forecast, with clear explanations of key drivers and changes.
• Prepare financial reports and supporting materials for recurring, monthly, forecast, budget, and ad hoc review discussions, including dashboard extracts and summary views.
• Project Financial Management & Cost Control
• Track and monitor capital (CapEx) and operational (OpEx) expenditures for IT projects.
• Support the preparation of detailed project budgets, cost estimates, and forecasts in collaboration with project managers and IT leadership.
• Perform monthly cost reviews, accruals, and variance analysis between actuals, budgets, and forecasts.
• Process and track vendor invoices, ensuring alignment with purchase orders, contracts, and project allocations.
• Governance and Compliance
• Assist with financial controls, audit trails, and documentation for IT projects
