Description
We are looking for an Associate to join our Private Credit team. Based in Toronto, you will be an integral part of the team focused on direct private credit investments globally, and play a key role in evaluating investment opportunities, executing transactions, and monitoring existing portfolio investments. Private Credit is a dynamic and fast-growing team with an excellent track record in deploying capital in unique and complex credit opportunities. Private Credit has built a multi-billion global portfolio of investments with a path to double the AUM in the next few years targeting high-single digit to mid-double-digit returns.
Who you’ll work withThe Credit team is a group of approximately thirty professionals who invest across the full spectrum of credit products employing a wide variety of investment styles including deep dive fundamental analysis, structured credit, thematic strategies, enhanced indexing, quantitative and systematic strategies, and fund investments.
The Private Credit team’s broad mandate enables collaboration with professionals across OTPP’s investment teams in Equities, Infrastructure, Teachers Venture Growth, and Real Estate globally.
Reporting to a Director, you will help support the Private Credit team’s efforts to significantly grow the portfolio. As part of a dynamic Capital Markets environment, you will be exposed to the different strategies and risk-taking styles within the broader group through regular interactions.
What you'll doWork closely with the Private Credit team, supporting the evaluation, diligence, and execution of a wide variety of opportunities
Develop investment theses and create memos to be presented to the underwriting committee
Perform financial modeling and analysis (financial projections, sensitivity analysis, valuations, and returns)
Evaluate and monitor the ongoing performance of the portfolio
Support ongoing strategic initiatives and reporting requirements
What you’ll need
Minimum 2 years of investment or transaction work experience (investment banking, private credit, private equity, or transaction advisory services)
High proficiency in financial modelling, valuation, and quantitative analysis
Strong work ethic, team mindset, communication & presentation skills
Ability to balance priorities, work independently, meet tight timelines with limited supervision
Experience in the deal execution process, including conducting due diligence
High commitment to being a team player, with an ability to build relationships
