Our Red Chris Mine, located in the heart of Northern British Columbia on the traditional territory of the Tahltan Nation. Your Impact

As a Technician, Environment at Red Chris Mine, you’ll play a key role in executing environmental fieldwork and monitoring activities to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal environmental standards. Your work directly supports environmental stewardship across surface and groundwater programs and contributes to a strong safety culture and sustainable mining operations

As Part of Our Team, You Will
  • Complete technical sampling and monitoring
  • Prepare and maintain sampling equipment to ensure accurate and reliable data collection.
  • Maintain data within systems for reporting, following procedures and standards and completing quality assurance and controls.
  • Assist in the assessment and interpretation of sampling data, providing preliminary reports and observations to support environmental monitoring efforts.
  • Uploading data to Monitor Pro (water quality database) and other SharePoint / MS Office suite-based systems.
  • Assist and lead departments in the evaluation of environmental events, sampling and clean-up activities.
  • Provide input to internal and external reporting documents to meet regulatory and other voluntary commitments.
  • Supporting Red Chris Mine Safety Transformation and supporting a safety-first work culture.
  • Ensure standard work procedures and safe systems of work are understood, and adhered to with absolute compliance - monitor and report all non-compliance.
  • Participate in site safety initiatives, including being an advocate for safe work behaviours within the team.
  • Coordinate with site operations, contractors, and consultants during field programs
  • Communicate field conditions, challenges, and observations clearly to supervisors
Prerequisites for Your Success in This Role
  • B.Sc. in environmental sciences or related discipline preferred
  • 2 to 4 years of environmental field experience preferred
  • 2 to 4 years of groundwater and surface water sampling preferred
  • Experience working on mine sites or industrial settings
  • Proficient in MS Office suite applications
  • Experience working with Monitor Pro database software would be considered an asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Work well in a team environment
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to work in extreme weather environments
  • Able to conduct field measurements, including surface and groundwater quality monitoring
  • Proficient in preparing chain of custody forms and coordinating environmental sample shipments
  • Experience uploading and managing environmental monitoring data in digital systems

  • Location: Red Chris Mine in Dease Lake, British Columbia - situated on the traditional territory of the Tahltan Nation
  • Schedule: 15 / 13, fly-in fly-out (FIFO) rotation
  • Accommodation: Camp-based lodging provided, including meals, Wi-Fi, fitness and recreational facilities
  • Conditions: Field-based, hands-on role involving outdoor work in various weather and terrain

The expected salary range for this role is CA$72,700-90,900 . This range is tied to the British Columbia market for jobs performed in British Columbia. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s pay history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about pay history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.
