Our Red Chris Mine, located in the heart of Northern British Columbia on the traditional territory of the Tahltan Nation. As a Superintendent, Construction Mining (Fixed-Term - 61 weeks) at Newmont’s Red Chris Block Cave Project, you’ll lead the safe, efficient delivery of underground mining development. Your oversight will directly influence project milestones, contractor performance, and the successful execution of medium-term mine infrastructure
- Lead in-field supervision of underground mine development contractors to ensure work meets safety, quality, and contractual expectations
- Act as a technical representative for contract development, tendering, and execution of enabling infrastructure like ventilation fans and refuge stations
- Coordinate across H&S, maintenance, electrical, and site services teams to resolve blockers and drive execution
- Support budgeting and cost control activities, including monthly contractor claim reviews and financial forecasting
- Review and implement medium-term mine plans to meet development schedules
- Lead incident investigations and champion safety through visible leadership, FRM standards, and critical control verification
- Promote psychological safety, inclusion, and proactive hazard management within field teams
- Liaise with internal partners and regulatory bodies to ensure alignment with project and compliance requirements
- A Degree in Mining Engineering would be considered an asset
- Demonstrated experience with administrating mine development contracts as an owner’s representative
- Strong working knowledge of underground mine development, especially decline projects
- Proven ability to manage field teams and contractors in a fast-paced, remote environment
- Skilled in reviewing development progress, verifying cost claims, and ensuring safety compliance
- Familiarity with mine infrastructure, contractor scope integration, and critical field planning
- Strong field presence, communication skills, and a steady leadership style
- Comfortable engaging with Indigenous partners and operating in northern climates
- Location: Red Chris Mine (fly-in/fly-out role)
- Rotation: 15 days on site and 13 days offsite (160 hours)
- Conditions: Onsite in a remote, industrial mining environment
- Requirements: Must pass pre-employment medical, drug & alcohol test, and comply with PPE and safety protocols
- Contract Type: This is a fixed-term position for 61 weeks. It offers a unique opportunity to contribute meaningfully to a high-impact phase of our underground development at Red Chris.
We are now recruiting for the position of Superintendent, Construction Mining with a competitive annual salary of CAD 145,400 - CAD 193,800.
The offered base salary will be determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies, with consideration to internal equity.

The expected salary range for this role is CA$145,400-193,800 . This range is tied to the British Columbia market for jobs performed in British Columbia. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.
