Our Red Chris Mine, located in the heart of Northern British Columbia on the traditional territory of the Tahltan Nation. A short distance from Iskut and Dease Lake, Our fly-in, fly-out site offers access from various points across British Columbia and Alberta. Red Chris currently operates as an open-pit copper and gold mine with a promising future to transition to a high-value underground block cave operation. As the Maintenance & Reliability Manager at Red Chris, you will play a pivotal role in fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. Your leadership will ensure that our maintenance strategies not only drive equipment reliability and availability but also maximize value across the site. By championing critical control verifications and promoting a proactive safety mindset, you will help safeguard our people and operations. Your strategic direction will shape asset performance, influence cross-functional initiatives, and develop future leaders through mentorship and succession planning-contributing to the long-term success and resilience of our mine.
Health & Safety
- Champions a safety-first culture by leading the implementation of the Safety Management System and Always Safe behaviours.
- Ensures compliance with all laws, policies, procedures, and the Mines Act (Section 21).
- Conducts and reports on regular Critical Control Verifications (CCVs), Critical Control System Verifications (CCSVs), and Visible Felt Leadership (VFL) activities.
- Owns functional safety performance and keeps current with evolving industry standards.
- Ensures all contractors, vendors, and external partners operate safely and understand site safety protocols.
Technical
- Leads a reliability-focused maintenance strategy that maximizes asset performance and delivers operational value.
- Executes the Program of Work & Sprint process to drive technical excellence and continuous improvement.
- Sets performance targets using industry benchmarks and implements preventative maintenance programs to reduce cost and increase longevity of assets.
- Manages equipment assessments, repair/replacement decisions, and infrastructure inspections (e.g., buildings, roads, piping).
- Oversees supply and service contracts, ensures parts/component availability, and aligns activities to meet KPIs (availability, scheduled compliance).
- Collaborates with central functions to implement business improvements and enhance value delivery.
Leadership & Development
- Leads by example with the highest ethical and professional standards, consistently upholding company values.
- Develops talent through coaching, performance management, and succession planning.
- Promotes a collaborative, team-based culture across all site departments and partners.
- Empowers individuals to take accountability, fosters a safe environment for learning, and communicates operational goals clearly.
- Builds capability in others, sustains high performance, and ensures alignment with organizational strategy.
Scheduling & Planning
- Develops and delivers departmental strategies in alignment with site-wide goals and the Senior Leadership Team.
- Leads the creation and execution of the site Objective Map, ensuring inclusivity and ownership across teams.
- Establishes and monitors quality, cost, and performance standards through structured planning and change management.
- Oversees robust budgeting and resource planning processes tied to operational value.
- Supports the implementation of technical planning tools and continuous job interval reviews to drive improvement.
- Post-graduate qualification in Asset Management, Logistics, MBA or equivalent.
- 10 + years senior-level operational leadership on large, remote mine or heavy-industry sites.
- Deep expertise in maintenance planning, reliability engineering and asset-lifecycle cost optimisation.
- Proven safety leader with advanced problem-solving, communication and change-management skills.
- Skilled in MS Office; exposure to CMMS/ERP systems an advantage.
- Fly-in/Fly-out to our remote British Columbia camp; modern accommodations, on-site wellness, and stunning mountain views.
- Collaborative, non-union workforce that values innovation, transparency and respect.
- 8X6 schedule.
- You’ll report to the GM and sit on the Senior Leadership Team, shaping Red Chris’s long-term success.

The expected salary range for this role is CA$170,000-$244,000 . This range is tied to the British Columbia market for jobs performed in British Columbia. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s pay history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about pay history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.
