Description
The Canada Retirement Law department is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented law clerk to join our team. You will lead the review of legal documents such as court orders and separation agreements related to marriage breakdown pension division requests, and be the point person for the Canada Retirement Operations team in relation to the same.
Responsibilities:
Review all court orders and separation agreements and/or other legal documents received related to pension division requests following marriage breakdown.
Serve as the primary contact person for Canada Retirement Operations on marriage breakdown pension division requests.
Provide clear, practical guidance to internal stakeholders regarding legislative requirements.
Communicate effectively with internal teams and external parties to support timely and accurate processing.
Draft correspondence to external parties when legal documents do not meet applicable legislative requirements.
Qualifications:
Law clerk diploma or experience as a seasoned Law Clerk.
Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; bilingualism in French and English is strongly preferred.
High attention to detail and accuracy, with strong organizational and time-management skills.
Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply legal standards and instructions with sound judgment.
Excellent ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure to meet deadlines while remaining focused with attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong interpersonal and diplomacy skills.
Strong client-focus and commitment to quality service and product outcomes.
Proficiency in Office 365, including advanced knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat DC, OneDrive, SharePoint, and other applications.
Demonstrate ability to take the initiative to learn and adapt in a fast-paced, changing environment.

Salary range is expected to be between
$58,275.00 CAD - $97,125.00 CADIf you are applying for this role outside of the primary location, please contact recruitment@manulife.com for the salary range for your location. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
