A career as a Senior Legal Advisor in the Client Relationship and Complaints Advisory Services - Legal Affairs, Capital Markets and Wealth Management team means acting as a strategic resource in complex files involving vulnerable individuals. Your teamWithin the Legal Affairs sector of National Bank Financial (NBF), you’ll be part of a large team of 30 colleagues and report to the Assistant Vice President - Client Relationship and Complaints Advisory Services. You’ll work closely with the Senior Manager responsible for issues related to vulnerable persons. Your role
- Advise, support, and guide business lines in their activities, particularly regarding vulnerable persons, powers of attorney, protection mandates, trusts, estates, and incapacity.
- Analyze complaint files from legal, regulatory, and financial perspectives, assess risks (legal, regulatory, reputational), and provide tailored recommendations.
- Negotiate amicable settlements in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Issue legal opinions and recommend actions to ensure the protection and growth of the firm in line with its business objectives.
- Collaborate on regulatory investigations and litigation related to complaints.
- Develop and maintain tools and training related to issues involving vulnerable persons.

Prerequisites
- Bachelor’s degree in law and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
- Member in good standing of the Barreau du Québec or the Chambre des notaires du Québec.
- In-depth knowledge of legal issues related to vulnerable persons, incapacity, powers of attorney, estates, and trusts.
- Experience or knowledge in securities law.
