Job Description: St. Ann’s Senior Citizens Village Corporation is a Catholic organization providing seniors housing. Reporting to the Director of Support Services, the Food & Nutrition Services Manager is responsible for the leadership and operation of Food & Nutrition Services for St. Ann’s Home and St. Ann’s Place, located in two separate buildings. This role ensures the delivery of safe, nutritious, appetizing meals that meet residents’ clinical needs, preferences, and regulatory requirements, while maintaining fiscal responsibility and high operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and manage daily food service operations across two sites
• Plan, implement, and revise cycle menus, recipes, and production systems
• Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, infection control, and Special Care Home legislation
• Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and performance-manage Food Services staff within the SEIU collective agreement
• Maintain staffing levels, manage attendance, approve leave, and ensure accurate payroll practices
• Oversee purchasing, inventory control, storage, and use of food contract
• Monitor budgets, food costs, and revenue related to meals and catering services
• Coordinate special events, catering, and holiday functions
• Collaborate closely with Dietitian, Nursing, Recreation, Maintenance, and Administration
• Address resident, tenant, and family concerns related to food services in a timely and professional manner
• Conduct audits, temperature logs, and quality assurance activities
• Lead resident satisfaction initiatives and implement improvements based on feedback
• Support student practicums and staff education
• Participate in committees related to quality improvement, OH&S, and resident/family engagement
• Develop emergency food service contingency plans and support sustainability initiatives
Human Resources Exemption: No
Education
• Food and Nutrition Management Diploma
• Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in Food & Nutrition Services within a healthcare setting
• Member in good standing with the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management
Competencies
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, staffing, and regulatory compliance
• Experience working in a unionized environment is an asset
