Description

Our client, a leader in the food and manufacturing industry, is seeking a skilled refrigeration technician to support its operations and ensure optimal system performance.
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Refrigeration Technician is responsible for the installation, preventive maintenance, repair, and optimization of refrigeration and air conditioning systems, including industrial ammonia systems.
This position requires strong technical expertise, strict adherence to safety standards, and the ability to work in controlled-temperature environments.
Key Responsibilities

Operate, maintain, and optimize ammonia-based refrigeration systems.

Perform regular inspections, trend analysis, and system monitoring.

Diagnose and repair issues related to refrigeration, heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), and electrical systems.

Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance according to procedures.

Assist with the installation and commissioning of new equipment and systems.

Perform safety equipment testing and ensure regulatory compliance.

Participate in the development and updates of risk management and safety programs.

Maintain cleanliness of mechanical rooms and perform water treatment adjustments.

Work in temperature-controlled environments (freezers up to -20 °C).

Be available for on-call emergencies outside regular hours.
Qualifications
-
DEP in Refrigeration or a related field.

Certified Journeyperson Refrigeration Technician.

Minimum 5 years of experience with ammonia refrigeration systems.

Strong knowledge of electrical systems, controls, instrumentation, and screw compressors.

Excellent understanding of safety and environmental regulations.

Good physical condition; able to work in hot and cold environments.

Strong analytical skills, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.

Bilingual (French/English) for internal communication and technical documentation.
