Ministry Branch / Division Community Clean Energy Branch/Energy Decarbonization Division Job Summary A great opportunity to take the next step in your career The Ministry of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation is responsible for British Columbias electricity, alternative energy, mining and petroleum resource sectors, and supporting work to meet BCs greenhouse gas reduction targets. The Ministrys Community Clean Energy Branch develops policy and program initiatives to decarbonize community energy systems through the implementation of clean energy projects in communities across British Columbia, including grid-connected local governments, Indigenous communities, and non-grid connected remote communities, each of which can involve significant negotiation of public/private sector financial agreements. The Branch is highly interactive with all levels of government, Indigenous Peoples and a multitude of differing stakeholders, including utilities, technology developers, consulting companies and non-government organizations. Working under the direction of the Director of the Community Clean Energy Branch, the Senior Policy Analyst coordinates and leads the research, analysis, development and implementation of strategic policies and legislation for the Ministry-led CleanBC Remote Community Clean Energy Strategy. Job Requirements: Degree in Indigenous relations, public administration, business administration, law, economics, social sciences, natural resource management or equivalent, and three (3) years of experience. An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered. Experience in planning and coordinating complex projects/assignments. Experience in concisely and persuasively writing a range of documents/content. Experience developing and maintaining effective, trust-based relationships with Indigenous peoples. Preference may be given to candidates with one or more of the following: Graduate studies related to community energy systems. Work experience with clean energy, energy efficiency, climate policy, and/or public utilities. Experience in the development of legislation, regulation and policy.
