About the role

At Groupe Alesco, we are committed to creating the conditions necessary for our employees to thrive. The Groupe Alesco is currently growing rapidly and has just entered the Ontario market with one of its business units, with a second one soon to follow. This naturally brings with it a growing need to hire new bilingual employees.

In their three-month contract as Scrum Master, the candidate will be responsible for laying the foundations for organizational agility within project teams, structuring rituals and collaborative practices, clarifying roles, coaching key stakeholders, and evaluating the added value of the role in the specific context of the organization. The mandate is to ultimately recommend whether or not to make the Scrum Master position permanent.

The Scrum Master will also play a key role in promoting performance, collaboration, and continuous improvement of multidisciplinary teams through the rigorous and appropriate application of Agile principles.

The Scrum Master will act as a catalyst for change and organizational maturity, guiding teams toward greater autonomy, better cross-functional coordination, and a culture of accountability and transparency. He or she will also support methodological consistency across the project ecosystem, in conjunction with other functions (IT, PO, PM, analysts, etc.).

Responsibilities

Without limitation, the Scrum Master will:

  • Structure, plan, and facilitate Agile rituals (Daily Scrum, Sprint Planning, Review, Retrospective) to maintain a predictable cadence, fluid communication, and continuous team engagement.
  • Adapt Agile practices to the realities of the organization (level of maturity, challenges, tools, type of project), whether in Scrum, Kanban, or hybrid mode.
  • Identify, document, and resolve obstacles that hinder progress, deliverable quality, or collaboration, in synergy with the PO, developers, analysts, and managers.
  • Strengthen team autonomy and self-organization through targeted interventions, personalized coaching, and accountability mechanisms.
  • Support Product Owners in their role, helping them structure their backlog, clarify user stories, and improve the quality of interactions with technical teams.
  • Collaborate with IT, Data/AI, and Business Solutions departments to ensure consistency in delivery methods and streamline processes between cross-functional teams.
  • Support the integration of development requests related to digital products (LMS, CRM, automation, etc.) within a stable, measurable, and scalable Agile framework.
  • Contribute to the evolution of tools, templates, and indicators used for Agile management (e.g., velocity, cycle time, burndown, completion rate) by continuously monitoring methodologies.

Expected deliverables at the end of the assignment

Structure the foundations of organizational agility, support project teams and stakeholders in adopting effective agile practices, consolidate a collaborative and iterative framework, and produce concrete deliverables to assess the long-term value of a Scrum Master role. The mandate has a strong focus on framing, coaching, methodological structuring, and organizational diagnosis.

  • Initial structured Agile framework: rituals, roles, tools, templates, indicators.
  • Coaching provided to teams, POs, and stakeholders, with findings and recommendations.
  • Assessment of the organization's Agile maturity (strengths, obstacles, levers for change).
  • Proposal for optimizing the Agile model in line with organizational priorities (LMS, CRM, AI, automation, etc.).
  • Formal recommendation on the relevance of creating a permanent Scrum Master position.

Qualities required to thrive in this role
  • Organizational agility: In-depth knowledge of Scrum, Kanban, and other approaches; ability to adapt methods to the evolving context of the organization.
  • Ritual facilitation: Expertise in facilitating Agile ceremonies with active participation from the entire team.
  • Team coaching and development: Ability to guide teams toward self-organization, mutual trust, and accountability.
  • Obstacle resolution and flow management: Vigilance and proactivity in identifying and removing irritants, dependencies, or inefficiencies in sprints.
  • Service leadership: Coaching approach without hierarchical authority; active support for collective performance.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Diplomacy, listening, and neutrality in coordinating multiple stakeholders (IT, DEVOPS, PO, business lines, management).
  • Use of Agile indicators: Ability to interpret data (velocity, completion, cycle time) to inform decisions and propose adjustments.
  • Culture of continuous improvement: Willingness to establish habits of analysis, feedback, and constant evolution in practices.
  • Clear and assertive communication: Ability to explain Agile concepts in layman's terms, reframe issues diplomatically, and maintain a climate conducive to collaboration.
  • Emotional stability and resilience: Ability to manage tension, remain objective, and maintain a safe environment in times of change.

What we are looking for
  • University degree in administration, engineering, IT, operations management, or a related field.
  • Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM I/II, SAFe, PMI-ACP or equivalent).
  • Additional training in coaching, facilitation, or Agile transformation (an asset).
  • Knowledge of Kanban, Lean, or DevOps (significant asset).
  • 5 to 10 years of experience as a Scrum Master or Agile coach in multidisciplinary and transformational environments.
  • Proven experience in organizational-wide agility implementation mandates, including team coaching, ritual structuring, and framework adaptation.
  • Familiarity with IT environments, data, automation, or digital products (LMS, CRM, etc.).
  • Experience in assessing Agile maturity and producing structuring deliverables (frameworks, tools, recommendations).
  • Bilingualism, both spoken and written (communication in French is very important as our team is predominantly French-speaking, but communication in English is essential as we now serve a growing English-speaking clientele).
