The Résidence Wales Home and CHSLD Wales Inc. is a private, not-for-profit seniors’ residence and long-term care facility that can accommodate over 200 residents. The Wales provides a continuum of care for residents across the service spectrum, from seniors who are completely autonomous to those requiring specialized long-term care. The CHSLD Wales also has two specific micro-milieu units for residents suffering from various forms of dementia.
Located in rural Cleveland, in the Eastern Townships, the Wales is situated in a beautiful country setting that provides gorgeous views year-round. The Wales prides itself on its “milieu de vie”-focused care. In October 2018, the Wales Home and CHSLD Wales received Gold Certification for Excellence in Person-Centered Care from Planetree International. This award recognizes the superior level of person-centered care that Wales employees deliver to their residents daily. The Wales is one of eighty-two Gold-Certified healthcare facilities worldwide, and one of only four in Canada. The CHSLD Wales is the only gold-certified long-term care facility in Québec.
Along with a peaceful country setting and a friendly work environment, the Wales also offers competitive salaries. In August 2017, the CHSLD Wales signed a fifteen-year agreement with the provincial Government to fund its eighty-four beds. This contract has since been expanded to ninety-six beds to accommodate the CHSLD Wales's recent expansion to its Norton Wing. With this funding, the Wales can provide salaries that match those of the public sector. Along with higher wages, the Wales Home has an excellent pension plan, as well as quality on-the-job training by qualified professionals. As the Wales is the designated facility for Anglophone seniors in the province of Québec, working at the Wales also provides an excellent opportunity to learn or improve one’s English.
