The Township of Champlain is seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to fill the part-time, casual position of Arena Attendant.

Reporting to the Parks and Recreation Lead Hand, the successful candidate will be responsible for general arena and community centre operations. This position is located at the Vankleek Hill Community Centre.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate the ice resurfacer and other specialized equipment, including power tools and cleaning equipment in a safe and correct manner.
  • Responsible for opening and securing building(s) and follow lock up procedures.
  • Clean and maintain facility: sweep, wash and vacuum floors, wash windows and doors, clean washrooms and change rooms, empty garbage, etc.
  • Maintain an awareness of all scheduled activities and events; staff needs to ensure appropriate spaces are ready for use and maintenance supports are in place as needed.
  • Assist with set-up and take down of various functions, programs and events.
  • Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, applicable legislation, regulations, statutes, and departmental policies/procedures/practices and operational guidelines and perform safe work practices.
  • Attends staff training as necessary.
  • Perform any other duties related to the position.

Working Conditions
  • The salary for this position is from $24.76 to 29.53.
  • Regularly stands, walks, climbs, and crouches. Occasionally lifts and carries up to 20 pounds or more.
  • Is in regular contact with members of the public.
  • Exposure to various temperatures, odours and weather conditions.
  • This position is part-time and casual for 8 to 24 hours per week from September to April.

Qualifications
  • Completion of Secondary School.
  • Bilingualism is an asset.
  • Submit or agree to a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check.
  • Maintain a valid Class G license & has access to a personal vehicle.
  • First-Aid and/or CPR certifications are considered assets.
  • Certification or willingness to become certified as Facilities Operator or Ice Technician.
