We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to support the Controller in managing the accounting and financial reporting functions for multiple entities. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting knowledge, experience with month-end and year-end processes, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the General Ledger and ensure accurate financial records.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and reconcile intercompany transactions.
  • Manage banking activities, including EFTs, wire payments, and transfers.
  • Review accounts payable invoices and oversee payment processing.
  • Prepare and submit GST, QST, corporate tax payments, and other government filings.
  • Manage commission payments, clearing house accounts, and data imports into Sage.
  • Assist with government, legal, and consultant inquiries.
  • Coordinate year-end financial statement preparation and audit files for Deloitte across multiple entities.
  • Support the Controller with special projects and other accounting duties as required.

Requested skills

  • 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a multi-entity environment.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end processes.
  • Proficiency with Excel and accounting software; Sage experience is an asset.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Bilingualism in French and English is required for this position. The role involves frequent collaboration and discussions with colleagues and partners across Canada. These interactions require proficiency in both French and English to effectively perform the duties associated with the position.
Hospitality, hotel, or restaurant industry experience is considered an asset
