Senior Power BI Developer to support and deliver technology-driven solutions that enhance data workflows and reporting functions for a utilities client

**Hybrid in Edmonton or Calgary**

Must haves:

• 7+ years as a Programmer Analyst/BI Developer in Reporting Solutions, including Power BI, supporting multiple initiatives.
• Strong documenting and reporting skills within JIRA.
• Strong consultation, collaboration, and communication skills to fulfill business requirements.
• Experience working on Azure Data Lake ERP implementations.

Nice to haves:

• Proven experience developing reports and dashboards in Power BI.
• Strong proficiency in DAX, Power Query (M), and data modeling.
• Experience working with relational databases, such as SQL Server.
• Solid understanding of data visualization best practices.
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Experience working with enterprise data lakes and modern data platforms.
• Familiarity with Medallion Architecture, including bronze, silver, and gold layers, and consuming curated datasets for reporting.
• Experience in a regulated environment as an Analyst, such as Utility.
• Experience with test case and script execution.
• Experience working in an Agile environment.
• Project-based experience with some of Gas and Pipelines core applications, in order of importance:
• Power BI o Azure Databricks o JIRA
• Microsoft suite of products

Reporting Development and Data Modeling

• Design and develop interactive dashboards and reports using Microsoft Power BI.
• Translate business requirements into effective data models and visualizations.
• Build and manage robust data models for analytics in Power BI.
• Use Power Query to clean, transform, and shape data before loading it into the model, ensuring the data is in the right structure.
• Work with structured and curated datasets across different layers of a data lake, such as bronze, silver, and gold.

Data Quality, Performance, and Governance

• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and performance across all reporting solutions.
• Implement best practices for data visualization, usability, and governance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve data and reporting issues.
• Maintain and enhance existing reports and dashboards.

Business and Stakeholder Collaboration

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand reporting needs and deliver actionable insights.
• Understand business goals, objectives, and project value to effectively work with subject matter experts and business users to develop Power BI reports to the identified business requirements.

Project Delivery, Testing, and Sustainment

• Support technology implementation projects integrating legacy systems with cloud applications.
• Support User Acceptance Testing.
• Provide documentation, training, and support to end-users, ensuring they are equipped to effectively use the new reports.
• Support the project with operational handover tasks so that the reports can be maintained after the project has gone live.
