We are looking for a highly skilled Middleware Application SME (Tomcat / ActiveMQ / RabbitMQ / Azure Migration) to lead the assessment and migration of middleware workloads from an on-premises environment into Azure


This role requires deep technical expertise in Tomcat, ActiveMQ, and RabbitMQ, with proven experience deploying, configuring, and troubleshooting these technologies at the CLI level.


Location - 100% remote

Part time hours for the first 2 months (20hrs per week), and then it will switch to full time (40hrs per week) until June 30, 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct discovery workshops with the client to assess their current on-premises ActiveMQ and RabbitMQ environments.
  • Provide in-depth analysis of the existing middleware setup to identify migration challenges and opportunities.
  • Deploy and configure Clustered Tomcat environments integrated with PostgresDB in Azure.
  • Design and execute migration strategies for middleware components, ensuring seamless integration into the Azure ecosystem.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ, and Tomcat at a deep technical (CLI) level.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, development, and cloud engineering teams to support end-to-end delivery.


Must Haves

  • Expert-level hands-on experience with Tomcat, ActiveMQ, and RabbitMQ.
  • CLI-level expertise in ActiveMQ and RabbitMQ (beyond administrative functions).
  • Proven track record of deploying, configuring, and managing clustered environments for Tomcat.
  • Strong experience with PostgresDB and its integration with application servers.
  • Strong background in middleware migration and customer discovery workshops.
  • Prior experience assessing and migrating complex middleware environments into Azure.
  • Ability to run customer-facing discovery sessions to evaluate environments and define migration paths.


Nice to Haves

  • Azure certifications (e.g., AZ-104, AZ-400, AZ-305) or Kubernetes certifications (CKA, CKAD).
  • Experience with multi-region AKS cluster design and failover strategies.
  • Exposure to hybrid cloud integrations and service mesh technologies (e.g., Istio, Linkerd).
