Senior Esri Subject Matter Expert for a Public Sector client

Contract: 6 months

4 times a week on site (Pickering)

We are seeking an experienced Esri Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support a specialized GIS integration project. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the Esri ArcGIS platform, particularly in working with web viewers, parcel fabrics, and geospatial editing functionalities. This role will also involve integrating Esri-based solutions with external systems by capturing user events and invoking remote web services to trigger workflows outside of the Esri ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

• Integrate and configure Esri ArcGIS Web Viewer for advanced geospatial data interaction.
• Enable and support editing of parcel fabrics, map layers, and feature classes directly within the web viewer.
• Implement event-driven workflows by capturing user interactions (e.g., clicks, selections) on the map interface.
• Design and invoke remote web services/APIs to perform tasks and business logic outside of the Esri platform.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including GIS analysts, backend developers, and project stakeholders.
• Ensure performance, usability, and reliability of the integrated mapping solution.

Must Haves:

• Strong hands-on experience with Esri ArcGIS JavaScript API and Web AppBuilder or Experience Builder.
• In-depth knowledge of parcel fabric datasets and editing workflows.
• Experience with feature layer editing and spatial data manipulation.
• Familiarity with event-driven programming in a GIS context (e.g., handling map clicks, geometry edits).
• Proven ability to integrate Esri solutions with external web services/APIs.
• Solid understanding of RESTful web services, JSON, and JavaScript.

Nice to Haves:

• Esri Technical Certification (e.g., Web Developer Associate, Desktop Professional).
• Experience working on government or utility GIS projects.
• Familiarity with enterprise integration patterns and service-oriented architecture (SOA).
• Experience with ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, or ArcGIS Pro is a plus.
