Senior DevOps Engineer to design and implement cloud-agnostic infrastructure using Terraform, Kubernetes, and Ansible for a defense client

Our defense client is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to design and implement cloud-agnostic infrastructure using Terraform, Kubernetes, and Ansible

Initial 1-year contract with strong possibility of extension or opportunity to convert to permanent full-time. 7.5 hours per day, Monday to Friday

Hybrid, 3 days onsite in Ottawa, ON - 100% remote options may exist for candidates located outside of Ontario. The selected candidate must be eligible for NATO Secret and Controlled Goods clearances (Last 10+ years spent in-country, without leaving for 6+ months).

Responsibilities

• Design and implement CI/CD pipelines to automate software delivery
• Build and manage cloud-agnostic infrastructure using Terraform, Kubernetes, and Ansible
• Develop monitoring, logging, and alerting for infrastructure and applications
• Administer containerized environments with Docker and Kubernetes orchestration
• Optimize system performance and reliability across platforms
• Evaluate and integrate new DevOps tools to advance automation capabilities
• Implement system security best practices and compliance controls

Must Haves

• Minimum 4+ years of DevOps experience managing infrastructure and automation
• Hands-on expertise with Terraform, Kubernetes, and Ansible for cloud and on-prem provisioning
• Strong Docker container management and CI/CD pipeline implementation experience
• Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting using tools such as Prometheus or ELK Stack
• Background with system hardening and security compliance practices

Nice to Have

• Exposure to Azure and AWS
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code best practices
• Experience scripting in Python or Bash
• Familiarity with GitOps practices and automation frameworks
• Understanding of virtualized network configurations and device management
