Our financial services client is seeking a Senior Data Architect (Contract, 10+ years of experience) to define and own the target data architecture for an Integrated Data Platform built on Snowflake

Join a major capital markets transformation program replacing legacy investment systems with modern platforms including Aladdin (BlackRock) and a new Integrated Data Platform. This pivotal role owns the end-to-end architecture spanning ingestion, modeling, integration, data quality, and governance across multiple investment domains. The engagement involves collaboration with internal teams and external partners through go-live and stabilization phases of a multi-year transformation. Candidates will have high visibility across investment operations, technology, and governance stakeholders.

Must Haves

• 10+ years in data architecture leading large-scale platform migration or transformation initiatives
• 5+ years in capital markets or asset management with exposure to investment domains such as positions, transactions, performance, or risk
• Hands-on expertise with Snowflake including physical design, performance tuning, and cost optimization
• Deep dimensional modeling experience including slowly changing dimensions, surrogate key strategies, and temporal data management
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, data management, or related discipline

Nice to Have

• Experience with Aladdin, the Aladdin Data Cloud, or other investment platforms such as Charles River, SimCorp, Calypso, or Eagle
• Exposure to private market systems such as eFront or Yardi
• Knowledge of IBOR/PBOR implementations or parallel run programs
• Experience at a Canadian pension fund or institutional asset manager
• Working knowledge of Python for prototyping and data tooling

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the target state data architecture for the Integrated Data Platform on Snowflake
• Design dimensional and canonical data models across securities, transactions, positions, performance, and risk domains
• Define integration patterns between Aladdin and connected upstream and downstream systems
• Design the metadata-driven data quality framework and operational telemetry structures
• Establish architecture standards for audit, balance, and data movement controls
• Maintain architecture decision records and document rationale and trade-offs
• Lead alignment across Data Platform, Integration, Conversion, Governance, and Reporting workstreams
• Validate and review partner deliverables, providing guidance on architecture and modeling
• Manage knowledge transfer and mentor data engineers and analysts on architecture patterns
