Description
Our client is seeking a permanent Senior Capital and Project Accountant to take ownership of capital project tracking and accounting, while also supporting operating project accounting.
Permanent Position - Remote (Alberta-based candidates only)
Breakdown of Responsibilities:
- Capital Accounting 50%
- Project Accounting 25%
- Other Duties 25%
Must Have:
- 5+ years' of senior-level accounting experience
- CPA designation in good standing
- Ability to create reports, charts, and data visualization from complex financial information
- Ability to engage stakeholders at various levels, including senior leadership
- Excellent analytical skills with a proactive approach to providing recommendations and implementing improvements using sound professional judgment
- Able to work independently and collaboratively, supporting multiple budget units and stakeholders
Nice to Have:
- Experience with Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS)
- Knowledge of Canadian GAAP
- Background in accounting for capital projects, contracts, restricted funds, and conditional grants
- Stong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly advanced Excel skills
- Experience with Ellucian Banner ERP
