Our public sector client is seeking a Senior Business Architect to assist with business capability modeling to support support technology planning, application lifecycle management, rationalization and modernization initiatives

Calgary-based office. Preference is for Calgary candidates who can be in-office when needed. 37.5 hour work week

Must have:

• 5+ years of experience as a Business Architect or Strategic Business Analyst with a focus on business capability modeling
• Experience with BIZBOK reference models
• Experience applying and adapting industry standards, frameworks, and best practices to solve specific business problems
• Bachelor’s or Master’s (preferred) degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Business

Nice to haves:

• Experience working in a municipal government or other large government organization.
• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
• Familiarity with architecture tools (e.g. LeanIX Enterprise Architecture, Bizzdesign Enterprise Studio, Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect. MEGA International’s HOPEX platform)
• Working knowledge of ArchiMate modelling language or similar.
• Certification in TOGAF, BIZBOK, BABOK, or similar frameworks.

Responsibilities:

• The focus of this project is to validate the model and further develop it to ensure that it is suitable for investment and other business needs.
• The business architect will review current service and technology plans, along with other relevant documentation, to validate, improve and expand on the existing model to ensure that it will inform capability- and service-based planning, as well as to support technology planning, application lifecycle management, rationalization and modernization initiatives.
• The business architect will also assist in developing other value mappings that guide management towards effective portfolio optimization so as to achieve strategic alignment and other value-driven outcomes.
