Internal Control Specialist/Compliance Tester

Duration: 3 months (possibility of extension)

Location: Fully Remote


Summary:

Compliance Testers who will be responsible for conducting comprehensive compliance testing of internal controls, including performing detailed walkthroughs of business processes, assessing both design and operating effectiveness of controls, documenting findings and exceptions, and overall project management. The ideal candidate should have compliance or audit experience, controls testing experience, project management skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various business units while maintaining detailed documentation and reporting for management.

Role Deliverables:

  • Conduct comprehensive compliance testing of internal controls, including performing detailed walkthroughs of business processes, assessing both design and operating effectiveness of controls, documenting findings and exceptions, and managing multiple testing projects simultaneously while ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies.

Education/Work Experience:

  • 5+ years of compliance testing, internal audit experience
  • Strong knowledge of banking regulations
  • Undergraduate university degree, preferably in Accounting or Business Administration
  • Professional certification desired (CIA, CA or CMA or CGA).

Technical Skills:

  • Microsoft Suite

Other Skills:

  • Preference for Toronto based staff, or those able to work during Toronto time zone
  • Experience in leading walkthrough meetings to understand and assess the design of a control (e.g., the 5Ws)
  • Experience in working with multiple business stakeholders
  • Experience in coaching and working with junior staff members
  • Experience in controls testing, specifically 2LOD or 3LOD, against internal testing procedures and methodology
  • Experience in root cause analysis and/or report writing
  • Project management and time management skills are critical - this role is required to juggle multiple tasks at once during the testing project
