Int. HIS (Health Information System) Specialist x2 - Ambulatory & Rehabilitation Workflows - multi‑site health care client
Duration: 3 Months (4 month extension option)
Location: Toronto (Hybrid for workshops)
Overview:
Our client is a large, academic, multi‑site health care organization delivering a full continuum of care, including acute, ambulatory, rehabilitation, and post‑acute services across the Greater Toronto Area.
The organization is currently undertaking a multi‑year, enterprise‑wide digital and clinical transformation initiative to implement a new Health Information System (HIS) across all clinical programs and sites. This initiative is foundational to improving patient experience, clinical quality, and operational efficiency, and is driven by a strong focus on clinical transformation and care redesign, not just technology replacement.
The organization is seeking two experienced HIS Specialists (Business Analysts) to support the successful implementation of a new Hospital / Health Information System as part of a large‑scale clinical transformation program.
These roles will be accountable to assigned clinical solution areas and will act as a bridge between front‑line clinical users, operational stakeholders, and technical implementation teams. The focus of these roles includes workflow mapping, system configuration support, testing, training enablement, and go‑live readiness.

Responsibilities:
- Guide workflow design and system build activities; test the system and analyze technical issues related to assigned software modules
- Conduct current‑state and future‑state workflow assessments to identify gaps, risks, and opportunities for redesign
- Identify and resolve issues within assigned application areas, as well as cross‑solution dependencies
- Work as part of an integrated, cross‑functional project team to ensure deliverables are met on schedule
- Perform quality checks on own work and participate in peer reviews as required
- Collaborate with vendor representatives and clinical end users to ensure the system meets clinical and operational requirements
- Participate in the development of training content and delivery plans based on validated workflows and configuration
- Develop and maintain project documentation, including:
- Business requirements
- Use cases
- Test scripts
- Configuration and build records
- Participate in system testing activities including:
- System Integration Testing (SIT)
- User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
- Dress rehearsals
- Support device deployment, cutover planning, go‑live readiness, and post‑go‑live stabilization
- Participate in regular project meetings, contributing to issue logs, milestone tracking, and status updates
- Support change management and engagement activities to promote clinical adoption
- Troubleshoot issues raised by end users and collaborate with technical teams for resolution
- Participate in system configuration and build activities using vendor tools and application frameworks
- Prepare and facilitate stakeholder presentations and system demonstrations as required
- Develop and manage detailed project plans, track milestones, and coordinate testing, training, and change management activities to support successful implementation
Must Haves:
- Undergraduate degree or college diploma in Business, Health Informatics, Project Management, or a health‑related field; graduate degree considered an asset
- 3-5 years’ experience supporting large transformational initiatives in healthcare or the public sector
- Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) / HIS implementations, including configuration, testing, and go‑live support
- Participation in a major HIS or EHR implementation or upgrade
- Hands‑on experience conducting workflow redesign in hospital, ambulatory, or rehabilitation settings
- Experience with formal testing phases (SIT, UAT, dress rehearsals)
- Experience working on enterprise‑scale projects using structured project management methodologies
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of SharePoint and MS Project considered an asset
Nice to have:
- Familiarity with clinical documentation standards, privacy legislation, and healthcare interoperability concepts
- Proven ability to translate clinical or business needs into system and workflow requirements
- Exposure to change management and stakeholder engagement practices
- Experience with analytics and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI or similar platforms)
- Experience working in a multi‑site or regional health system environment
