Our valued non-profit client is seeking a Bilingual Data & Analytics Officer to manage and optimize cloud-based database solutions


18-month term engagement in Ottawa, ON, with possibility of conversion to FTE. Contract options may also be available. 7.5 hours per day, Monday to Friday. Hybrid on-site in Ottawa, ON


As the successful candidate, you will ensure database performance, security, and scalability while collaborating with development and analytics teams; working with technologies such as SQL Server, Azure Data Lake, Data Lakehouses, Power BI, version control systems, and CI/CD pipelines.


Responsibilities:

  • Database Management: Administer, configure, and optimize SQL Server databases in Azure.
  • Data Lake & Lakehouse: Manage Azure Data Lake and Data Lakehouse environments, ensuring efficient data storage and retrieval.
  • Performance Optimization: Monitor and tune database performance, indexing, and query execution.
  • Security & Compliance: Implement security best practices, access controls, and compliance measures.
  • Power BI Integration: Support Power BI data models and optimize queries for reporting and analytics.
  • Version Control: Utilize Git or other version control systems for database schema management.
  • CI/CD Pipelines: Develop and maintain CI/CD workflows for automated database deployments and updates.
  • Backup & Recovery: Implement robust backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability strategies.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with developers, data engineers, and business analysts to support data-driven initiatives.


Must Have Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills in English and French
  • Experience: 5+ years in database administration, with a focus on Azure SQL Server.
  • Cloud Expertise: Strong understanding of Azure Data Lake, Data Lakehouses, and cloud-based database solutions.
  • BI & Analytics: Hands-on experience with Power BI and optimizing data models for reporting.
  • Version Control: Proficiency in Git or similar tools for managing database changes.
  • CI/CD Knowledge: Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or other CI/CD tools for database automation.
  • Security & Compliance: Familiarity with data encryption, access control, and regulatory compliance.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting database issues and optimizing performance.


Nice to Have Skills:

  • Certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or similar.
  • Scripting: Knowledge of PowerShell, T-SQL, or Python for automation.
  • Big Data & AI: Exposure to Azure Synapse Analytics, Databricks, or AI-driven data solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Microsoft Fabric
