Your Role
Under the direction of the Service Manager - Telecommunications and Telephony, the Telephony Systems Administrator is responsible for managing and evolving IP telephony systems and call centres.
Your Role in Detail
Act as a subject matter expert and leader in unified communications:
Ensure the evolution of the unified communications environment with new products available on the market;
Work closely with enterprise architects;
Design a detailed architecture based on high-level plans and desired functionality criteria;
Define plans and perform lab testing, presenting the results;
Draft documentation on the solution and its integration with existing systems;
Develop deployment/migration strategies;
This includes telephony, messaging systems, audio paging, fax, and various operational call centres;
Support the technical team with the deployment of new solutions and ongoing operations;
Place and follow up on service calls with vendors;
Document solutions while adhering to the Incident Management process;
Train the support team on optimal use of telecommunications applications and services;
Participate in the on-call rotation for after-hours support.
Requirements
College diploma (D.E.C.) or university degree in computer science;
Eight (8) to ten (10) years of experience in infrastructure and Cisco IP telephony (demonstrated experience in managing unified communications);
Two (2) to three (3) years of experience in inbound call centres;
Proficiency in IP telephony technologies (SIP protocols, voice codecs, LAN/WAN networking, etc.);
Expertise in the voice component of an Integrated Services Router (ISR);
Mastery of local survivability strategies in IP telephony (SRST);
Experience implementing SIP trunking solutions with a telephony carrier;
Experience implementing and managing an audio paging solution, including amplifiers and speakers integrated with the phone system;
Knowledge of monitoring tools related to unified communications;
Proficiency in ITIL processes;
Strong problem-solving skills;
Ability to work under pressure;
Ability to work as part of a team;
Ability to simplify and communicate technical knowledge effectively;
Self-directed in learning new systems;
Ability to adapt easily to change;
Availability to work outside regular business hours;
Strong organizational skills, service orientation, and attention to quality;
Practical knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
