Do you have an interest in the environment, natural rigor, and enjoy diving into data? Join our team as an Ecofee Coordinator and actively contribute to RONA Inc.'s environmental compliance across Canada.

The Ecofee team is responsible for ensuring compliance to environmental provincial regulations and more specifically, Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) programs, which refer to provincial regulatory frameworks that provide funding for the recovery of end-of-life packaging and products to keep them out of landfills.

Reporting to the person responsible for the Ecofee department, the Ecofee Coordinator will be responsible for helping to ensure and maintain RONA’s environmental compliance. His/her primary mandate will be to keep product classification up to date. Specifically, he or she must determine if products sold within RONA store network are obligated to provincial environmental regulations. To do so, he or she will need to develop its knowledge of provincial environmental laws and regulations and become familiar with the different provincial recycling organizations. In addition, he or she will need to keep informed of upcoming regulations and regulatory changes. Finally, he or she will have to communicate with the recycling organizations in order to apply the regulatory requirements to the products.

Your role:
  • Classify products periodically for content and packaging.

  • Assist the merchandising team in their ecofee inquiries.

  • Provide information to update cash register systems to adjust eco-fees charged to consumers.

  • Work with recycling organizations to determine regulatory requirements.

  • Communicate with suppliers to ensure the data collection to determine the regulatory status of their products.

  • Collect and analyze data required for classification.

  • Prepare internal communications for eco-fee updates and regulatory changes.

  • Ensure collaboration with different organizations, suppliers and departments.

The qualifications we are looking for:
  • Technical or university degree.

  • Personal interest in the environment and/or sustainable development.

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.

  • Experience in data analysis.

  • Master of the Office suite tools, above all Excel.

  • Initiative and attention to detail.

  • Demonstrates autonomy, team spirit and great rigor.

  • Communications skills in order to communicate effectively with internal and external clients
