Description

The Supervisor, Material Handling Equipment (MHE) Maintenance manages MHE assets located at multiple Purolator facilities in Central Ontario, as well as employees and contractors, through defined processes and systems.


The role operates in a 24/7, high-volume logistics environment and provides direct supervision to skilled trades supporting conveyor and automation systems.

The schedule for this role is Monday - Friday from 2:00pm - 10:00pm, flexibility required for morning and weekend on‑call support. The shift may also move to daytime hours, so schedule flexibility is needed.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure maintenance programs and support services allow Regional Hubs to operate with 99.95% uptime, availability, reliability, and consistency across the Purolator network.
  • Develop, manage, inspect, and oversee MHE/ conveyor maintenance programs to ensure equipment reliability and timely work order completion.
  • Perform periodic inspections of recently maintained equipment to verify quality of maintenance and overall operating condition.
  • Monitor repairs completed by employees to ensure quality standards and productivity requirements are met.
  • Identify and manage asset reliability risks that could negatively impact Operations.
  • Ensure CMMS standardization, formatting, and content development are maintained.
  • Provide direct supervision and leadership to skilled trades, including millwrights, electricians, and automation technicians.
  • Assign work orders, manage priorities, and support troubleshooting during equipment breakdowns.
  • Collaborate closely with Operations across day, evening, and night shifts to maintain alignment.
  • Support planned shutdowns, major repairs, and capital projects as required.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, policies, and best practices.
Experience & Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a supervisory role managing skilled trades (millwrights, electricians, mechanics, automation technicians).
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working with conveyor systems in a high-volume, 24/7, high-speed package sortation or logistics environment.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting background; automation experience is an asset.
  • Experience using CMMS systems.
  • Strong understanding of maintenance reliability and asset management principles.
  • Proven ability to prioritize work and respond effectively in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility to support off-shift operations, emergency breakdowns, and planned maintenance activities.
