Senior Product Owner - Investment Analytics

The opportunity

The Senior Product Owner, Investment Analytics, will play a pivotal role in driving the strategy, development, and implementation of data, analytics, and artificial intelligence solutions within the investment area.

You will collaborate with stakeholders to understand their business needs, proactively identify opportunities to increase product value, define and prioritize solutions across competing stakeholder interests, effectively communicate roadmaps to stakeholders, set delivery priorities to the delivery team, and ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions. You will rally the delivery team to achieve the vision and strategy of the product by defining the product roadmap, clearly articulating success criteria for new features, and by acting as the voice of the customer throughout the delivery lifecycle.

Who you'll work with

The Senior Product Owner works to identify and prioritize features that meet the needs of a diverse set of business users across the Corporate and Member Services divisions, ensuring organizational alignment and communicating partner needs in the form of story maps, product roadmap, and user stories in the product backlog. You will work closely with development team members (Developers, QA) and the Scrum Master to provide clarity, refinement and suitable detail for each user story.

What you'll do
  • Collaborate with the business stakeholders to develop and articulate a clear vision and roadmap for data analytics and AI products aligned with the organization's strategic objectives.

  • Identify and prioritize opportunities for leveraging data and AI to drive business value and operational efficiency.

  • Lead the end-to-end product lifecycle, from ideation and requirements gathering to design, development, release, and continuous enhancements.

  • Ensure the product has a well-defined roadmap, delivery timeline, and backlog of features & user stories.

  • Ensure timely and high-quality delivery of analytics and AI solutions, balancing business needs, technical constraints, and user experience.

  • Represent value from a stakeholder’s perspective within the delivery team by providing a clear vision, prioritization of feature delivery, and work for delivery team members.

  • Take ownership of the outcome from the perspective of stakeholders both in realizing the expected impact/outcome and in how users are adopting the solution.

  • Establish KPIs and metrics to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of data analytics and AI products.

  • Continuously monitor and analyze product performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement optimization strategies.

  • Engage with key stakeholders, including senior leadership, business units, and external partners, to understand requirements, gather feedback, and communicate product updates.

  • Build strong relationships and foster collaboration across departments to drive alignment and achieve common goals.

  • Engage with external peers and industry participants to proactively identify market trends and new opportunities to increase the value of the product for stakeholders.

  • Manage the end-to-end product development cycle for specific Investment Analytics (IA) solutions.

  • Responsible for Business satisfaction and achievement in the delivery of specific IA product solutions.

  • Manage inputs required from stakeholders and customers to be able to fully represent the voice of the customer.

What you'll need
  • University degree in Computer Science, Data Science, BA, BSc, or Business

  • Canadian Securities Course or demonstrated equivalent experience.

  • Excellent understanding of Data, Analytics & AI solutions, including data sourcing, database technologies, data connection methods, data visualization tools, advanced analytics, machine learning and AI technology.

  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, Power BI to effectively collaborate with business and technology teams.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Product methodology and design principles including agile methodologies, values, and principles.

  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant client management experience in the financial services industry.

  • Experience in the pension fund industry is a plus.

  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in the areas of data, analytics, and AI.

  • Strong client management skills including expectations, requirements, delivery oversight, client reporting and effective communication.

  • Proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects and products in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.

  • Product mindset emphasizing exceptional outcomes for stakeholders.

  • Strong time management and prioritization skills, able to manage & deliver on demands from multiple stakeholders.

  • Ability to understand, empathize and bridge multiple perspectives e.g., Senior Leadership and technical specialists.

  • Ability to advise and invite alternate viewpoints in different stakeholders, including Senior Leadership

  • Proven experience in exercising diplomacy, maturity, and judgment
