Description
The Manager, Finance Data Analytics & Insights will work with Finance teams on key data & analytical tool initiatives. In conjunction with the Director and/or Senior Manager, actively work on DA&I initiatives and coordinate with Finance teams and other departments/divisions in OTPP to enable successful, timely, and effective development and implementation of Finance data initiatives and BI Solutions.
This position provides support to business users and decision makers within Finance to develop and maintain BI Solutions that unlock actionable intelligence and insights that guide management decisions. This position also works closely with partners in Technology Analytics & AI, and Enterprise Data Platforms, who support the BI Solutions infrastructure and development process.
What you'll doThis role will be responsible for participating in various projects and initiatives within the Finance Data Analytics & Insights team, including:
Develop and maintain Finance dashboards and BI solutions utilizing key financial metrics (Risk, Performance, Valuation, Expenses, etc.).Assist Finance teams in the development and delivery of new analytical capabilities that help drive investment and/or business decision making for our partners.
Build analytical tools and self-service reporting (e.g., Power BI).
Assist Finance teams with the development and automation of key management reporting and committee material.
Support the “OneFinance” model, to help eliminate duplication of analytical efforts and ensuring one source of the truth is available to all business partners and stakeholders.
Improve reporting, analytics, and insights through integration of Finance datasets.
Provide guidance and oversight to ensure essential Finance datasets are accurately integrated into the enterprise data dictionary (Collibra),
Partner with Technology Analytics & AI and Enterprise Data Platforms in new Investment projects that pertain to Finance data.
Management accountability
Proactively provide input on the group’s mandate, team composition and skills, and recommend changes for process improvements for the team, and stakeholders.
Provide input and insights in relation to developing critical initiatives for the Finance Data Analytics and Insights group.
Decision making
Identify opportunities and develop solutions where there may be no precedent, requiring analytical ability, judgment, and creative thinking
University Degree
CFA, MBA, CPA, CBV, FRM, or CIPM designation (or equivalent)
Working knowledge of the pension plan’s business cycles (including trade life cycle, Finance operations, data management & reporting, FP&A investment performance, investment risk, valuations, ESG and financial & management reporting.
Strong technical knowledge of Business Intelligence solutions & visualization tools (e.g. Power BI)
Understanding of tools that enable efficient financial data capture and analysis (SQL, R, Python, Snowflake)
Extensive use of MS Office products and MS Power Platform
Knowledge and understanding of the data environment / infrastructure, transformation, and transition from beginning to end
Approximately 5+ years of related professional experience in investment analysis and/or financial reporting
Financial services industry experience is a must; pension or investment fund experience preferred
Experience in project management / special projects, including participating in cross-functional teams, an asset
Experience with management reporting and analysis, an asset
