Analyst, Optimization and Governance

The opportunity

The role of the Analyst, Optimization and Governance is to support the budgeting, reporting, analysis, administration, planning, and monitoring of activities performed within the Product Engineering (PE) department.

Who you'll work with

The Analyst works in close collaboration with the Manager, Optimization and Governance to handle issues related to vendor partner performance, maintain a consistent approach to metrics generation and analysis to ensure alignment to PE Strategic Priorities; identify opportunities for implementing common solutions across teams through appropriate business case creation; track status and report on progress of committed deliverables; and assist with other departmental business management activities.

What you'll do

  • Assist in metrics reporting, process compliance and improvements. This includes scheduled and periodic capture of data from multiple sources for metrics reporting and status.

  • Implement well designed, scalable and automated reports using current and emerging technology (e.g. PowerBI) to provide oversight for the department on performance and to identify opportunities.

  • Help establish data stewardship and best practices for data management within Product Engineering

  • Proactively identify risks which may impact delivery on pre-established team/departmental commitments - and provide recommendations for improvement.

  • Lead and participate in status meetings; report and communicate on status as appropriate.

  • Responsible for maintaining currency in technological trends and direction; continually upgrading personal, technical, and IT related skills through research, education and self-motivated technology experimentation

  • Facilitate discussions with senior leaders to obtain, analyze, document, communicate, and handle business requirements.

  • Present and communicate metrics, trends, and observations to various levels across IT

  • Participate and lead in new technology investigation and make recommendations for new technology adoption where appropriate.

  • Provide suggestions on approach to help form scope and business requirements.

  • Able to work autonomously and be resourceful while collaborating with various stakeholders.

  • Analyze current systems/processes, spot challenges, and identify areas of improvement to assist in forming long-term strategies around monitoring business processes to achieve optimal efficiency.

What you'll need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Information Technology, or Finance, or equivalent working experience

  • You have 2-3 years of relevant hands-on experience

  • Demonstrated capability to perform financial and performance analysis

  • Strong applied skill in the Microsoft office suite of tools: Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint, SharePoint

  • Previous experience leading the design, development, and implementation of business reports that use interactive data visualization software such as PowerBI, Tableau, Qlik Sense

  • Experienced working with the various members of Agile squads to assist with removing blockers that metrics identify

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrates a growth mindset and is adaptable to changing priorities and requirements

  • Self-organizing individual who can manage deadlines of competing priorities

  • Exposure to JIRA, Confluence, GitHub, or other IT collaboration tools

  • Experience with SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle), understanding of software development/testing, and general IT concepts
