About Red Chris
Our Red Chris Mine, located in the heart of Northern British Columbia on the traditional territory of the Tahltan Nation. A short distance from Iskut and Dease Lake, Our fly-in, fly-out site offers access from various points across British Columbia and Alberta. Red Chris currently operates as an open-pit copper and gold mine with a promising future to transition to a high-value underground block cave operation. You will lead mine engineering activities for the Red Chris Block Cave Project, driving safe, efficient, and well-executed underground development. Your leadership will ensure high-quality short-range planning, strong operational performance, and a collaborative team culture that supports delivery of critical project milestones.
- Lead and develop a team of engineers and technicians with a safety-first, inclusive mindset
- Deliver optimized short-term mine plans (0-3 months) aligned to operational and LOM objectives
- Translate long-range designs into detailed, execution-ready plans
- Monitor performance metrics and drive continuous improvement in productivity and schedule adherence
- Identify risks, constraints, and opportunities to improve plan delivery
- Execute core planning activities including weekly schedules, POI designs, ventilation modelling, and inventory management
- Maintain and enhance the Management Operating System (MoS) for short-range planning
- Provide technical support across underground development, including drill and blast and ventilation planning
- Collaborate with operations, technical teams, and external partners to optimize mine performance
- Degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline
- 6+ years of underground mining experience, with a focus on planning and development
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and build high-performing, inclusive teams
- Strong mine planning capability (Deswik experience considered an asset)
- Experience in contractor management and underground operations is beneficial
- Exposure to block caving is an asset
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in BC or ability to obtain
This role is based at our remote Red Chris mine site, featuring modern accommodations and recreational facilities. You will work a balanced fly-in, fly-out schedule (2 weeks on / 2 weeks off), supporting both career growth and personal time.

The expected salary range for this role is CA$129,300 - 181,020 . This range is tied to the British Columbia market for jobs performed in British Columbia. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s pay history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about pay history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.
