Newmont North America operations are located in British Columbia, Ontario, and Quebec with roles in operations, projects, and exploration. Regional Support is provided from our office in Vancouver.

As a 5-Year Mine Planner at Newmont, you will play a key role in developing tactical 5-year underground mine plans that align with life-of-mine (LOM) strategies and business goals. Your expertise will ensure the delivery of integrated mine designs, optimized schedules, and risk mitigation strategies that support safe, efficient, and sustainable underground operations.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive 5-year tactical mine plans, including production, infrastructure, and workforce forecasts
- Update underground designs and schedules based on performance and changing conditions, collaborating with key partners
- Align 5-year plans with production targets and life-of-mine (LOM) strategies, integrating with short-term (0-2 year) site plans
- Enhance planning granularity with accurate capital cost estimates and multiple scenario options
- Conduct detailed risk analyses, develop mitigation strategies, and embed them into planning
- Forecast Opex and sustaining Capex as part of the planning cycle
- Plan phased underground development to meet production targets
- Apply a dynamic planning approach to adapt to internal and external changes
- Continuously improve planning methods, tools, and apply innovative mining technologies to support underground operations (Caving and LHOS)
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering
- 5 years of experience in underground mine planning, design, and scheduling
- Proficiency in Deswik, a mine planning software, is highly regarded
- Experience with Vulcan and other mine design tools is considered an asset
- Strong understanding of operational drivers in underground mining environments
- Knowledge of cost forecasting, functional modeling, and risk analysis
- Excellent collaboration, problem-solving, and communication skills
- P.Eng. or EIT designation considered an asset
- Experience with cave flow modeling (e.g., PCBC, REBOB) is an asset
- Familiarity with caving operations, draw control, and underground monitoring systems
- Location: Vancouver office, with occasional travel to Brucejack Mine
- Schedule: Monday - Friday, with flexibility to meet project demands
- Conditions: Combination of office-based planning and fieldwork in underground mining environments
- Requirements: Compliance with Newmont’s safety protocols, PPE usage, and operational readiness for underground site work
We are now recruiting for the position of 5-Year Mine Planner with a competitive salary of CAD 91,800- CAD 122,400, with an additional short-term target incentive of 15%. The offered base salary will be based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies, with consideration to internal equity. The expected salary range for this role is CAD $ . This range is tied to the British Columbia market for jobs performed in British Columbia. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.
