Senior Legal Advisor Global Sanctions and Anticorruption

A career as a Senior Legal Advisor in the team of the International Sanctions & Anticorruption Compliance Programs at National Bank means actively taking part in sound risk management and the development of the programs aimed at ensuring compliance with the regulatory prohibitions on international financial operations, as well as with the laws that combat corruption. You will be a principal resource for the creation, maintenance, and application of these compliance programs, in reliance on your expertise of the regulatory requirements applicable to a wide range of National Bank’s initiatives.


Your role

  • Produce international sanctions and anticorruption positions to be applied by the organisation based on your interpretation of applicable international sanctions and anticorruption law
  • Provide strategic advice, guidance, and notices based on these two domains of law
  • Assume the role of international sanctions and anticorruption content expert in the Bank’s activities
  • Contribute as content expect to certain regulatory initiatives with various participants
  • Draft, review and revise policies, standards, procedures, and other guidance tools
  • Manage governance activities related to regulatory filings related to international sanctions
  • Contribute to the creation of international sanctions and anticorruption annual regulatory compliance training modules broadcast across the organisation


Your team

As part of the Compliance sector, you’ll be a member the Compliance Programs, Independent Evaluations, and Governance team and report to the Chief of Global Sanctions and Anticorruption Compliance Programs. You’ll develop your expertise in a stimulating environment known for its diverse range of skill sets.


Qualifications

  • University law degree and 7 to 10 years of relevant experience
  • Member of a provincial bar of lawyers
  • Leadership and ability to work in a team
  • Knowledge and understanding of international sanctions and anticorruption law, an asset
  • Strong analytical, writing and communication skills in English and in French
