Description
Manulife is looking for a Senior Analyst to join our Data & Decision Management team within Global Operations!
This position is accountable for organizing and analyzing a multitude of data sources to deliver meaningful, measurable, and actionable insights to achieve our strategic priorities, ambitions, and goals within Global Ops. The position will be responsible for navigating the availability, quality and limitations of Manulife systems data and third-party data sources. Curiosity and the desire to understand the broader business context will be key elements for this role to enable business users to make data-driven decisions.
Position Responsibilities:
Provide subject matter expertise in data management area - 50%
Tactical support of data validation, consolidation, and cleansing processes; systematically identify data quality issues and improve speed on resolution.
Automate processes to improve turnaround time on data availability and increase efficiencies in recurring reporting process.
Proactively assess, analyze, and continuously innovate all aspects of data, reporting and analytics for the Global Operations team.
As a data custodian, manage data quality processes on various recurring reports and dashboards to minimize data discrepancies across multiple systems.
Work closely with segment business partners to transform business requests into value-add deliverables including data mapping, data aggregation, data cleansing, and other data-related processes.
Provide data driven recommendations to Global Operations Strategy team and formulate strategies to grow the business and drive long term value - 30%
Be a trusted business partner, working collaboratively with teams to optimize analysis and insights while maintaining regular communication during ongoing reporting processes.
Use data to build a fact-base to measure the efficiency and effectiveness of operations strategies and support opportunities with insightful analytics.
Interpret data using careful business-grounded logic to identify and analyze trends to derive meaningful and actionable insights that tie directly to our business objectives.
Champion the use of new tools and techniques to optimize data and analytics reporting capabilities.
Work independently with little to no supervision - proactively taking ownership of key analytical projects and provide support in the implementation of strategies.
Deliver ad hoc reporting to support initiatives and analytics projects - 20%
Support the creation of visualizations, reports, and dashboards to track strategic KPIs for key business stakeholders.
Accountability around business intelligence tool adoption within the business community and training business users to fully leverage these tools.
Ensure data captured and provides an effective measure of the overall success of the Global Operations team.
Align performance management, tracking and reporting with other key stakeholders including Finance, Risk Management, and Marketing teams.
Required Qualifications:
University degree in quantitative based field (e.g. Statistics, Science, Engineering, Computer Science).
5+ years of experience with data analytics, data mining, or statistics.
Experience with data visualization tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, Qlikview).
Ability to communicate effectively and provide deliverables in a remote environment.
Strong communication and presentation skills with the integrity and confidence to liaise with executives and senior management - articulating a clear view of concepts, ideas and objectives is key.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to assimilate, synthesize, and present complex information in a concise value-added form.
Ability to evaluate the feasibility and practicality of ideas. Taking a balanced-risk approach to promote the growth of ideas.
Comfortable in high-pressure environments.
Proven team builder and strong collaborator with the ability to build strategic partnerships with internal clients and vendors; builds buy-in and engagement with key stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in analysis packages and programming languages such as SQL, R, Python and/or SAS would be an asset.
Knowledge of Big Data Platforms, architecture and data tools is a plus (e.g. Hadoop, Spark, etc.).

Salary range is expected to be between
$71,925.00 CAD - $119,875.00 CADIf you are applying for this role outside of the primary location, please contact recruitment@manulife.com for the salary range for your location. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
