Manager, GWAM Strategy & Transformation

The GWAM Strategy & Transformation Office drives GWAM wide initiatives that shape the future of Manulife’s Global Wealth and Asset Management business. As a Manager, you will help lead high‑priority transformation efforts spanning operating model design, M&A integration, capital allocation, and remediation of critical strategic initiatives.

You will work in a fast‑paced environment with frequent exposure to senior leaders (VP/SVP+), contributing to initiatives of high strategic importance. You’ll collaborate closely with a team of former management consultants, where expectations are high, the learning curve is steep, and the impact-and growth-are meaningful & rewarding

The successful candidate will be expected to support and eventually own and drive transformation projects, which entail:

  • Framing key issues & problem solving through first principle thinking

  • Developing initial hypotheses and structuring data analysis

  • Conducting stakeholder interviews to understand business problems

  • Drawing meaningful insights from data analysis and external research/ industry trends

  • Developing actionable recommendations and articulating them through executive presentations

  • Coaching Sr. Analysts and Analysts on the team

Position Responsibilities:

Strategy & Analysis

  • Break down complex problems, frame hypotheses, and define analytical approaches

  • Analyze large datasets and external benchmarks to inform strategic decisions

Business & Market Insight

  • Maintain working knowledge of the GWAM value chain, financial drivers, and customer lifecycle

  • Conduct market and competitive research to contextualize recommendations

Stakeholder Communication

  • Synthesize insights into clear, executive‑ready presentations and dashboards

  • Communicate recommendations to AVP/VP‑level stakeholders with confidence

Delivery & Execution

  • Partner with cross‑functional teams to drive execution and outcomes

  • Support project management, decision‑making, and performance tracking

Required Qualifications:

  • University degree in business management, economics or finance

  • 5 - 7 years of experience, preferably 2-3 years in top tier management consulting or similar strategy roles preferred

  • Strong numerical aptitude, MS Excel proficiency and experience with analyzing large data sets

  • Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to apply structured thinking process to solve complex problems independently

  • Strong storytelling skills and the ability to craft clear, compelling recommendations using Microsoft PowerPoint

  • Strong self‑awareness and the ability to adapt influence and problem‑solving styles to achieve outcomes

  • Ability to clearly articulate the ‘what’ and ‘why’ behind recommendations, incorporating diverse perspectives to build alignment

  • Ability to operate comfortably at both levels-diving deep into details when needed while also stepping back to assess the broader context and maintain a clear, strategic perspective

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset. If the successful candidate is in Quebec, proficiency in both languages will be required to support clients from various provinces outside of Quebec

Salary range is expected to be between

$103,270.00 CAD - $153,270.00 CAD

Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
