Description
The Manager, GWAM Expense Consolidation is an integral member of the GWAM expense management team in MFC’s global Expense group. Reporting to the Director of GWAM Expenses, the position liaisons with the larger GWAM Expense team and GWAM FP&A supporting finance activities, incorporating monthly and quarterly analysis (actuals & forecast, reporting, and overall financial support for the business).
In addition to supporting ongoing business activities, this role provides opportunities to lend your skills and expand your talents as we augment the analytical capabilities of the team to help find hidden insights in the drivers of expenses and its sources. This position will also play an integral role in supporting transformation activities within both GWAM and the overall Expense Shared Service team. For GWAM Expenses, the position will focus on activities like forecasting, reporting, expense savings initiatives, and any other strategic initiatives. You will support the Head of GWAM Expenses and other peers to enable more streamlined reporting and processes so the team can focus on value-add analysis with the business.
Position Responsibilities:
Expense Management Reporting and Analysis - Ensure expense management is integrated with our management and business objectives including multiple views/lenses on expenses and strong supporting control and governance framework
Monthly and quarterly reporting on key expense metrics, expense roll forwards, forecasts, controllable and non-controllable expenses
Keeping GWAM management well informed of issues and status. These updates will come in the form of reviews with the GWAM Expenses partners on a recurring basis
Use appropriate judgment in dealing with unexpected issues and requests, demonstrating an ability to prioritize work, and balance resource requirements to achieve solutions
Oversee the development of reporting which meets the needs of the business. Provide value-added analysis along with clear and concise commentary on results for our customers.
Demonstrate a strong technical understanding of the accounting for expenses including company policies and sufficient business knowledge to be able to verify and analyze information under review.
Provide Finance support on Strategic Management programs where applicable and while maintaining alignment with roles and responsibilities as defined by the program.
Ad hoc reports and analysis as needed.
Budgeting and Forecasting - As a member of the expense management consolidation team, you will partner with GWAM Expense partner’s from across the business and FP&A to meet the overall planning and financial management information needs on expenses.
Support GWAM segment expense management planning for business groups, the manager will also be responsible for the budgeting and forecasting for GWAM Management and Strategy team
Develop strong processes to support preparation of robust expense forecasts to support management decision making
Team Building and Process Improvement - Play a key role as part of the Expense Management team in the achievement of process transformation and application of best practices in expense advisory
Lead opportunities to collaborate across teams to innovate and drive continuous improvement initiatives

Required Qualifications:
Accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA, CPA) with 5+ years of relevant experience in progressive accounting roles.
University degree in business, finance or equivalent.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate, negotiate and influence effectively.
Self-starter with the ability to work independently, particularly in the area of using sound, independent judgment, problem-solving and analytical skills.
Results oriented, able to manage expectations, work under tight deadlines and manage competing priorities.
Excellent customer focus and commitment to quality.
Strong business acumen with ability to communicate complex concepts and results in a clear, concise, easy to understand manner (written and verbal).
Solid analytical and technical capability - ability to assimilate/summarize a large amount of information from multiple sources and present in a value-added form for senior management
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn new applications quickly
Preferred Qualifications:
Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset. If the successful candidate is in Québec, proficiency in both languages will be required to support clients from various provinces outside of Quebec.
Essbase and Lawson knowledge (or other complex GL package) would be an asset

Salary range is expected to be between
$92,900.00 CAD - $142,900.00 CADEmployees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
