Director, Gen AI Communications

The opportunity

We are seeking a Director of Global Marketing and AI Communications to set the strategy and share communications for two of our most important strategic enablers: Global Marketing and artificial intelligence.

Working closely with the Global Head of Marketing Communications and Sustainability, as well as our global practice areas, agencies, AI thought leaders, the Global Marketing Leadership Team, and the Global CMO; this leader will support the development and execution of our Marketing and AI communications.

In addition to setting the strategy for these growth areas, this leader will curate and tell stories of AI and Marketing leadership on internal and external channels including via press releases, our web presence, and across social media channels - influencing how both colleagues and our external audiences view Manulife’s leadership across these strategic pillars.

This leader should be a proven communications practitioner with strong internal and external experience and demonstrated knowledge of artificial intelligence.

Position Responsibilities:

AI Communications Strategy

  • Shape and articulate the value proposition of AI across the organization, positioning it as a critical component of our strategic vision.
  • Develop and implement communication strategies that highlight our commitment to Responsible AI Principles, ensuring they resonate with internal and external audiences.
  • Turn AI success stories into actionable communications across internal and external channels, including press releases, stories on our website, and social media content.
  • Work with media and other outlets to curate how our AI story is represented to the public.
  • Sit on the AI Steer Co and influence how AI is integrated into all aspects of our work and business.

Marketing Communications

  • Responsible for the development and execution of all Marketing communication deliverables, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and strategies.
  • Support the communication efforts for Marketing Redesign, ensuring clear, consistent, and impactful messaging and setting Marketing apart as a leader in the industry.
  • Plan and execute Town Halls, organizational announcements, and AMA sessions to keep colleagues informed and engaged.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, both internally and externally, to advance our Marketing and AI communication objectives.
  • Monitor industry trends and best practices to inform and enhance our communication strategies.

Required Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Communications or Marketing required
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in corporate communications, with a focus on Marketing and AI communications.
  • Proven track record of leading and executing large-scale communication initiatives.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing high-performing teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages for diverse audiences.
  • Experience in shaping and communicating value propositions and principles, particularly related to AI.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across functions and influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.

Salary range is expected to be between

$105,750.00 CAD - $190,350.00 CAD
