Senior Commercial P&C Underwriter

Our client is a well-established Canadian property and casualty insurer with a strong presence in the commercial insurance market. They are looking for a dynamic Senior Mid-Market Commercial Underwriter to join their Commercial Underwriting Team. The successful candidate will be adept at analyzing risks and providing creative solutions to brokers, with the ability to influence and inspire others through their enthusiasm and deliver exceptional customer service.

Compensation

• $90,000 to $120,000

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and quote new business, renewals and endorsements in line with underwriting guidelines, authority levels and profitability objectives
• Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with brokers
• Work collaboratively toward team and department goals, including written premium and loss ratio targets
• Support the growth of junior team members through coaching and mentorship

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Mid-market Commercial Underwriting experience
• Hands-on expertise in Construction and Manufacturing lines
• Strong analytical skills and comfort working with portfolio performance metrics
• Solid organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
• Outgoing personality with demonstrated experience in production underwriting
• Enrolled in or completed CIP/CRM designations are an asset
