About The Opportunity
This role offers the chance to work on complex and high-value commercial real estate and lending files, supporting experienced partners and associates across both the lending and real estate teams. About The Position
The Senior Paralegal will provide advanced paralegal support to the lending team, consisting of two partners, one associate, two paralegals, and one legal assistant, with occasional collaboration with the real estate team. Reporting directly to the lawyers within the practice group, this role will manage commercial real estate, lending, and development files from open to close. Responsibilities include preparing and reviewing transaction documents, managing registrations with the Land Title Office and Personal Property Registry, organizing and maintaining both physical and electronic files, performing complex document formatting, and coordinating closing processes. This position requires a highly organized, independent professional who can manage competing priorities with minimal supervision.
The Requirements
- Graduate of a recognized Legal Assistant or Paralegal Program
- 5+ years of commercial lending experience; experience in commercial real estate transactions is an asset
- Extensive knowledge of Land Title Office and Personal Property Registry processes
- Experience with standard real estate transactions, including tax searches, title insurance, and development filings
- Strong skills in document preparation: mortgages, trust letters, statements of adjustments, contracts, and correspondence
- Advanced proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and document management systems
- Exceptional proofreading, spelling, grammar, and writing abilities
- Strong organization, accuracy, and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced, team-based environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Client-service mindset with a commitment to delivering exceptional support
Compensation
- Salary range: $90,000 - $125,000, based on experience
