Purpose of the Position

Are you eager to gain hands-on experience and expand your knowledge across multiple stages of aircraft metal part manufacturing? We are looking for a versatile technician who enjoys learning and applying their expertise in various manufacturing processes.

At DCM, you will work across departments including welding, thermal spray (PLASMA and HVOF), chemical processing, assembly, forming, bending, machining, inspection, painting, and surface preparation treatments.

We need you to read, interpret, revise, and write manufacturing routings for the different production departments based on customer specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and understand technical information shown on engineering drawings, specifications, and repair/maintenance (MRO) documentation;
  • Write and update manufacturing routings for all departments (welding, thermal spray, chemical processing, assembly, machining, inspection, painting, and surface preparation treatments);
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives by creating assembly manuals and contributing to corrective actions;
  • Provide technical support to operations across all departments;
  • Validate technical requirements from 3D drawings in Catia V5 and produce sketches/visual aids needed to support production;
  • Assess repairs and develop repair procedures based on authorized repair documentation;
  • Analyze the impact of change requests and perform contract reviews and risk analyses.

Required Education

  • College diploma (DEC) in Aircraft Construction / Mechanical Engineering, or vocational training (DEP, ASP) combined with relevant experience.

Technical Skills

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in the aerospace industry (an asset);
  • Good knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Knowledge of Catia V5 software;
  • Strong knowledge of sheet metal, welding, and surface treatments;
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and technical documents, and create or modify manufacturing sketches;
  • Familiarity with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems; knowledge of Epicor is considered an asset;
  • Ability to perform follow-ups and controls;
  • Excellent command of French (spoken and written) and functional English proficiency (reading and writing), required to read and understand English-language documentation from suppliers located outside Quebec.
