Are you a building engineer, with solid technical skills, and have been curious about management for a while? Then this role is made for you. No need to be experienced in managing a department: we are looking for someone who can bring people together, who enjoys bringing their teams towards greatness and building something sustainable.
Under the engineering vice-president, you will take the lead of an existing team, that you will gradually develop into an integrated mechanical and electrical department. Job particularity: business development plays a more significant role here than in most other fields - a real playground for those with an entrepreneurial spirit. It is a role that combines technical expertise, people management, business acumen and vision, within an engineering firm with a presence across Canada.

What we offer:
  • A springboard to management: You will receive support from senior management to ensure a successful transition into a leadership role.
  • Stimulating projects: varied and large-scale assignments across a range of sectors, throughout Canada.
  • Competitive conditions: salary, performance bonuses, employee benefits and access to professional development.

Main tasks:
  • Manage the team’s day-to-day; rally, supervise, and encourage growth of the engineers and technicians in your team.
  • Ensure technical quality;act as a technical lead for HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems (non-residential buildings) on projects
  • Foster good relations with current and future clients; maintain solid relationships with current clients and be an active participant in the business development of the department.
  • Expand our services in electrical engineering, I&C and automation; gradually integrate these disciplines to create a truly multidisciplinary department
  • Recruit the right candidates;attract talent in mechanical, electrical, I&C and automation as the department grows
  • Work in an integrated manner; collaborate with the firm’s other disciplines - structural, civil, building envelope, electrical, I&C and building automation.

Profile that we are looking for:
  • You hold a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and your engineering qualification (P.Eng.) is valid.
  • You have cumulated at least 7 years of experience in building engineering, with very proficient knowledge of HVAC systems and plumbing.
  • You understand the workings of fire protection systems for buildings.
  • Knowledge of BIM (Revit MEP) is an asset.
  • On an interpersonal level, you are known for your ability to bring people together around a shared goal, and you have that entrepreneurial spirit that drives you to expand offerings and attract new clients.
  • You might already have coordinated teams on complex project, mentored junior colleagues or taken on a role as a senior project manager - that is exactly the kind of background we are looking for.
  • You are bilingual (French and English), able to collaborate with colleagues and clients from outside of Quebec in both writing and speaking.
  • You are comfortable with clients and contributing to the growth of nationwide firm motivates you.
