Hybrid work options
As a Senior Developer on Platform Engineering (PENG), you’ll use a broad range of tools, technologies and platforms to enable developers, administrators and end users to perform their tasks. Your work will include provisioning and managing infrastructure (primarily in AWS), using infrastructure as code (mainly CDK), and collaborating with other product teams in cloud native development.
You’ll build, maintain and enhance DevOps environments through source code version control, the CI/CD build pipeline, custom application deployments and resource monitoring. Using your familiarity with iterative approaches, you’ll recommend improvements for our environment.
Working in a collaborative Agile environment alongside a broad team that includes senior developers, technical analysts, database administrators, Windows specialists, architects, application administrators and product owners, you’ll solve complex technical challenges, explore new technologies and make a significant impact.
What you’ll do
- Build and implement cloud‑native solutions that support FCC’s platform and infrastructure needs
- Analyze, design and develop high‑quality code, including automation, integrations and unit tests
- Troubleshoot issues, deliver code fixes and support user acceptance testing
- Participate in and contribute to design discussions for new features and enhancements
- Develop and maintain efficient, reliable system integrations and technical solutions
- Build functional, easy‑to‑use frameworks that support development teams
- Work with AWS services, Infrastructure as Code (CDK/CloudFormation) and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins)
- Support cloud modernization and migration initiatives
- Contribute to code reviews to help maintain quality and consistency
What you’ll bring to the team
Required qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or a related field
- Minimum six years of experience in software development (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Demonstrated proficiency in at least one major programming language (Java, TypeScript, JavaScript, C#, etc.)
- Extensive backend development experience
- Solid knowledge of design patterns and when to apply them
- Proven expertise in writing clean, maintainable and well‑structured code
- Experience developing application components, integrations and automated tests
- Strong understanding of cloud‑native development concepts
- Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and version‑controlled development workflows
Preferred qualifications
- Experience building and operating workloads on AWS (or equivalent cloud platforms, with the ability to ramp up quickly on AWS)
- Experience with Jenkins, CDK and CloudFormation
- Experience with TypeScript or JavaScript
