POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the Head Chef, the successful candidate will assist the Head Chef and other cooks in their duties. They participate in the preparation of cold dishes and desserts, cut and peel vegetables and fruit, plate dishes, prepare meal trolleys, and participate in the maintenance of equipment and the kitchen with the rest of the team. Permanent full-time position, 40 hours per week, day or evening shifts, and one weekend out of two.
ROLE AND GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assemble plates of food
- Be required to participate in the serving of meals and/or light housework when required
- Clean kitchen equipment
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure good teamwork
- Ensure and optimize quality standards in the use of food
- Ensure the kitchen and equipment are kept clean according to established hygiene and cleanliness standards
- Peel and cut vegetables for meals
- Perform other related duties
- Prepare the lunches and suppers for the Health Care department
- Knowledge of retirement homes, a major asset
- Experience in a large restoration's volume (an asset)
- A minimum of 2 to 3 years experience
- Culinary training and MAPAQ certification: a major asset
