The GIS Product functions within the larger Upstream Data & IT organization. This student role will contribute to the successful execution of geospatial projects and tasks within the GIS Product team and contribute to the successful operations of Upstream Data & IT, while obtaining hands-on experience and learning opportunities in the fields of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and IT Operations.

What you’ll do

  • GIS operational activities including: spatial data management, analysis, data visualization including traditional mapping products and Esri Enterprise web-based products.

  • Upstream IT application portfolio support including: day to day operations, service oversight, disaster recovery testing, IT Asset Management activities including application lifecycle planning, optimization and renewals. -Learn and support business function(s) systems, processes, capabilities.

  • Participating in the development and maintenance of procedures, tools, methodologies and automation processes required to support our business.

  • Working collaboratively with team members to complete assigned tasks.

  • Adhering to organizational and industry standards and best practices while identifying continuous improvement opportunities and assisting with implementation.

Who you are

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada full-time for the duration of your work term and able to produce documentation upon application (e.g., work visa)

  • Available to begin work in May 2026

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

  • Experience with any of the following software systems is considered an asset: ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, FME Flow, and MS Office 365.

  • Background in Business (with IT focus), Business Administration or Data Analytics is an asset.

Education

  • Must be enrolled in a GIS, Geography, Geomatics or related Undergraduate Program at an accredited post-secondary institution at the time of intended work term and returning to full-time studies after the work term OR registered in an accredited post-secondary co-op or internship program for the duration of the work term

  • Candidates currently enrolled in either a Masters or Ph.D. program at an accredited post-secondary institution may also be considered

  • New graduates are not eligible for student opportunities.
