Overview

A growing fabrication shop is currently hiring an experienced Weld Shop Supervisor to lead our day shift. The successful candidate will bring a strong background in welding and fitting, excellent leadership capabilities, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all day shift operations, including schedule and labour efficiency
  • Supervise and support a team of welders, fitters, and general labour staff
  • Read and interpret blueprints and ensure work is completed accurately and to spec
  • Address employee issues including attendance, performance, and training
  • Monitor job progress, budgets, and timelines; escalate issues as needed
  • Ensure strict compliance with safety policies and procedures
  • Train and develop staff, particularly in welding/fitting best practices
  • Support quality control and initiate corrective actions when non-conformances arise
  • Assist in hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluations
  • Operate shop equipment as needed (crane, forklift, etc.) following proper safety training
  • Communicate effectively with management and other departments

Requested skills

What You Bring
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in fitting and welding (Required)
  • Strong blueprint reading skills (Required)
  • Supervisory or leadership experience in a welding or manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of steel fabrication techniques and processes
