This role supports the leaders of BMO's world-class Marketing, Communication and Social Impact (MCSI) team. Ideally, the Senior Manager, Strategy, Planning & Operations will have a strong background in strategy consulting and problem solving, executive communication & development of executive-ready presentations, performance management, and planning. Marketing experience is not required however, interest in marketing & communication, branding & consumer behavior and financial services is expected. The ideal candidate has a strong business and strategic acumen with a demonstrated ability to operate effectively in matrix organizations. You are a creative thinker and adept at strategy development and strategic storytelling.
What you will do:
You will support strategic initiatives, executive content creation, performance management, annual planning, and other initiatives from the Chief Marketing and Communication Office (CM&CO). You will work closely with the MCSI leadership team, especially the Chief Brand Officer, to drive the group’s strategic agenda in alignment with the business and overall enterprise priorities.
Strategy & planning
Be a trusted advisor and consult on initiatives that improve MCSI’s performance.
Break down strategic problems, and analyze data and information to provide insights and recommendations. Consider the "big picture" when assessing whether a course of action is advisable in terms of the group and enterprise goals.
Lead and proactively participate in strategic brainstorming discussions with the goal of not just developing recommendations, but to build a strategic framework that supports decision making.
Facilitate ideation sessions and continuously inspire new ways of thinking.
Communicate key insights and relevant facts effectively to different audiences, including crafting comprehensive and compelling narratives and proposals with a keen eye for strategic positioning.
Develop PowerPoint presentations that influence and build comprehensive business cases that help secure alignment and move initiatives forward.
Support the development of strategic plans and enables the annual planning process.
Conduct analysis and research to provide context into the current state (e.g., industry trends, benchmarks, competitor activities) that informs decision making and future state priorities (e.g., best practices).
Performance Management
Lead various quarterly reporting activities-including tracking of key performance highlights from teams across MCSI and OKRs/KPIs reporting.
Support the development of end of quarter summary reports and continuously seek out ways to visualize data to tell compelling stories.
Report on results and outcomes of strategic plans to key partners and stakeholders.
Interface with broader enterprise stakeholders to support their reporting needs while managing the data request from internal partners.
Provide effective challenge to data received from internal partners as needed and seek out ways to continuously optimize the performance management process.
Executive support / other
Support leadership team on other strategic priorities and ad hoc requests as necessary.
Operate at an enterprise-wide level and serve as a specialist resource to senior leaders.
Act as a relationship manager on assigned projects / programs and ensure alignment to overall enterprise and group goals.
Work independently and regularly handle non-routine situations.
Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications:
Typically, 7+ years of relevant experience (management consulting, financial services, strategy roles) and post-secondary degree in related fields of study (e.g., MBA) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Seasoned professional with a combination of education, experience and industry knowledge.

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.
Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
